You certainly have to let your staff check all fire safety devices every now and then, for example, to detect vandalism. But there is no need to spend time and money on regular checking of the technical functionality. Just let our Periodic Built-In Self-Test (BIST) do the job.
Every fifth minute
So many detectors, so little time. Periodic BIST verifies the safety function of all detectors from a technical perspective by performing communication tests every fifth minute. Your staff can use the time freed up to look for visual detector flaws caused by accidents and other assignments at the platform.
Uptime is everything
A production stop at an oil platform is immensely expensive, so there is no room for a fire detection system malfunction. Consilium CFD5000 fire detection system is designed for the oil and gas industry. The system is SIL 2 certified by TÜV NORD according to IEC 61508.
All detectors are powered from two sides. In the case of a cable break, there is always a way around the break to reach the detectors. No need to shut down the system.
What is more, our loop-based system works in explosive environments. That is unique for Consilium.
When safety matters
Consilium is the world-leader in fire detection systems for marine applications. We delivered our first system in 1967 and have installed more than 34,000 systems ever since. Now we are conquering the world of fire detection systems for the oil and gas market. In October 2015 we opened up an office in Norway’s “oil capital” Stavanger, and in April 2016 we received our first order for a new SIL 2-approved system.
